Kane Scores a Brace to Send Spurs into UEFA Conference League (UCL) Group Stage

‘Commited’ Tottenham Hotspur and England’s Harry Kane is back in the goals, as Spurs Overcome a 0-1 first-leg deficit to win the tie and progress against Pacos de Ferreira at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Nuno Espirito Santo, the Tottenham head coach, says Harry Kane is committed to the club and that it is time for everyone to ‘move forward’.

Following all the speculation about his future, Kane announced just before the match that he was ‘staying this summer’.

He was an inspiration for Spurs on the night, as they overturned a first-leg deficit against Pacos de Ferreira to reach the ECL group stage.

0-1 down after the 1st leg in Portugal, Kane opened the scoring after a sweet pass by Bryan Gil on the wing.

The England captain scored again when a clinical finish, just inside the left post with the keeper stranded, put his side ahead on aggregate for the 1st time in the tie.

On 70 minutes, Giovani lo Celso capped off a very good Spurs performance when his deflected free-kick went in for a 3rd goal which decided the hosts’ victory.

Kane was substituted on 72 minutes after netting his 223rd goal for the north London outfit.

It was like the good old days when he left the pitch, as Kane celebrated with a big smile on his face whilst Spurs fans chanted his name.

Tottenham will find out their group opponents on Friday afternoon at 13:30 CET when the draw is made.

It was a supremely professional performance by Spurs, who have won 3 of their opening 4 games, scored 5 times, and kept 3 clean sheets, so far this term.

The Spurs boss wants to use the inaugural Europa Conference League to his side’s advantage.

This competition will make us grow,” added Nuno. “This is what we want.”
