Saturday Showdown in Brentford!

Brentford entertain Liverpool on Saturday. Both clubs enjoyed midweek Carabao Cup success, but who will be victorious in Brentford?

Brentford will be seeking to continue their great start to life in the Premier League, as they prepare to play host to the mighty Liverpool in Saturday evening’s matchup. Both sides enter the contest having notched up convincing wins in their respective midweek EFL Cup contests. Thomas Frank’s Brentford outfit smashed 7 past Oldham Athletic, whilst Liverpool were on cruise control in their 3-0 win against Norwich City.

For this game, Brentford will be forced into a midfield change following Shandon Baptiste’s red card against Wolverhampton Wanders last weekend. Saman Ghoddos provided 3 assists against Oldham and he will be hoping to fill the vacancy left by Baptiste in midfield.

Despite netting 6 goals between them in the EFL Cup, Yoane Wissa and Marcus Forss’s chances of replacing Bryan Mbeumo or Ivan Toney in Brentford’s attack for any EPL game are not good.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will hope to welcome back Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberton Firmino in time for this game. Alexander-Arnold is thought to have a better chance of recovering from illness in time, as Firmino still has thigh issues.

Jürgen Klopp has the upcoming Champions League tie with Porto to consider, but even so, he should still go back to his strongest XI, with Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah, and Diogo Jota all looking likely to play.

Brentford have enjoyed a successful start to the season, as they sit in 9th position in the EPL table. However, expect joint 1st place, Liverpool, to challenge their miserly defensive record. Our prediction for this game is Brentford 0 Liverpool 3!
