The Premier League Newcomers Brentford Go Up Against West Ham

The teams have a long history of battling each other, but this will be the first time they actually meet each other in the English Premier League (EPL), England’s top-tier!

Just about nobody expected Brentford to keep up with the other clubs in the EPL after their surprise promotion from the Championship last season. Yet, already in their first match, they managed to shock everyone by beating Arsenal 2-0. Since then they gained two more wins, one loss, and several draws, last of which was a 3-3 draw against the current leaders, Liverpool.

West Ham managed to qualify to the European competitions last season for the first time in their history and now they would very much like to repeat or perhaps even improve on such an achievement. They are sitting in 7th position right now with three wins, two draws, and only a single loss against Manchester United.

Both clubs are in pretty good form then and both of them are going to heavily rely on their strikers to carry them to victory. West Ham’s Michail Antonio already has 5 goals in 5 matches under his belt in the Premier League to which he also added 3 more assists. He is certainly one to look out for in this match.

Brentford’s leading striker Ivan Toney isn’t doing bad either. He scored 2 times this season and assisted on 2 more goals. Last season he was the top goal-scorer in the Championship having scored a staggering amount of 31 goals in 45 matches. He seems to be adapting well to EPL’s tempo and we are wondering how many is he going to add.

As far as injuries go, Brentford are certain to miss Bech Sörensen in defence and Josh Dasilva in midfield, while West Ham could possibly miss their top right-back Coufal and even their second choice right-back, Ryan Fredericks.

This means we might see the young Benjamin Johnson take their place on the roster since he already starred in West Ham’s last match against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League on Thursday.

While we can’t quite put the finger on the winner of this game, we think we are very likely to see another one of Antonio’s great shows in the offence.
