Lacazette Saves a Point Late On for Arsenal!

Arsenal welcomed Crystal Palace led by Patrick Vieira last night at the Emirates Stadium. What ought to be a certain three-point game for the Gunners turned into something completely different, as the home team were happy to come out of the game with at least a point.

Arsenal started well with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang giving them the lead in the 8th minute of the game. Excellent one-two passing between Tomiyasu and Pepe gave the latter enough space to test the Crystal Palace keeper, and while he did manage to get his hands on it, the ball only bounced in front of the always-ready Aubameyang who put it into an empty net.

The goal, unfortunately, marked an end for the home team’s offense for the remainder of the first half, and Crystal Palace were now the better team. Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale had to come up with several good saves to keep the game 1-0.

In the second half, it only took 5 minutes for The Eagles to deservedly equalize. Thomas Partey carelessly lost the ball in midfield, Benteke found his way through the Arsenal defence, and clinically scored into the bottom right corner.

The Gunners still couldn’t get back into the game and Crystal Palace got the lead in the 73rd minute of the match. Arsenal lost the ball once again with the Crystal Palace players being much tougher and way more hungry for the win, and Odsone Edouard scored after a quick counter-attack.

Arsenal could have equalized on 87 minutes but the thunderous shot from Kieran Tierney only hit the crossbar. Finally, during the added injury time, Arsenal managed to put one in to make it 2-2. Pepe crossed the ball into the box after a corner, it got to Arsenal centre-back Ben White, who fired it into the Crystal Palace keeper, only for Lacazette to show out of nowhere and put the rebound in and save the point for his team!

Arsenal move to 12th with 11 points, while Crystal Palace are in 14th with 8 points.
