AS Monaco host PSV Eindhoven on Thursday, in this vital Europa League showdown! Who will be victorious?
PSV Eindhoven travel to Monaco on Thursday evening knowing that a win may be enough to book their place in the last 32 of the Europa League.
The Dutch side can move to the top of Group B with all three points, and the result of this contest could prove vital by the end of the group stages.
At a time when Monaco are currently occupying 10th position in Ligue 1, head coach Nico Kovač will want to prioritise making quick progress up the table.
Achieving that target could be helped by collecting a third win in Group B, a result which should be enough to earn a spot in the Europa League knockout stages.
Roger Schmidt has found himself under pressure at PSV, particularly during September, when his side went down in defeats to Feyenoord and Willem II.
The recent 5-0 loss at domestic rivals Ajax only increased the pressure on Schmidt, and the German was left relieved when his side fought back to beat FC Twente 5-2 last weekend.
In team news, Kovač will probably make multiple changes from the Monaco side which lost 2-0 at Brest last weekend. This should include giving a recall to striker Myron Boadu.
Ismail Jakobs, Aleksandr Golovin, and Youssouf Fofana will also feel like they are in line for an opportunity.
Meanwhile, Schmidt could continue with the PSV front three which put five goals past Twente last weekend.
However, alterations could be made in midfield and defensive areas. Philipp Mwene and Davy Pröpper are alternatives for those places.
Both teams will be confident of getting a result on Thursday. This scenario should make this a highly entertaining battle. However, we are not expecting many goals. We predict a 1-1 draw.
