Chelsea Stay Top Thanks to Narrow Victory at Watford!
It’s 2-1 at full time at Vicarage Road as EPL leaders, Chelsea, earn a hard-fought triumph! Goals from Ziyech and Mount cancel out Dennis’ Watford effort!
Chelsea stay at the summit of the English Premier League (EPL) after winger Hakim Ziyech netted a second-half effort to help claim a 2-1 victory over Watford on Wednesday.
Thomas Tuchel’s away side started slowly before teams both were taken off the field by the referee on 13 minutes, after the game was suspended due to an incident in the crowd.
The score was 0-0 at the time and the match was resumed around half an hour later.
Midfielder Mason Mount brought the game to life when he opened the scoring with 28 minutes played. Kai Havertz received the ball in the penalty area before the striker slid the ball to Mount, who stroked the ball into the bottom corner.

Havertz looked to have doubled Chelsea’s lead when he netted himself shortly after, but the strike was quickly ruled out for offside.
Emmanuel Dennis equalised on 42 minutes for Claudio Ranieri’s outfit. The forward smashed through the legs of defender, Antonio Rüdiger, and into the net. The 24-year-old Nigerian now has four Watford goals in his last five EPL matches.

Midfielder Moussa Sissoko wasted a gilt-edged opportunity to put Watford ahead just before half-time when he found himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Édouard Mendy, but the Frenchman scuffed the ball wide.
Ziyech found the winner, with the clock reading 72 minutes, when the Moroccan hitman struck home an inviting low cross from Mount.
Chelsea lead the EPL standings with 33 points from 14 games, with Manchester City on 32 and Liverpool on 31.
Watford will take heart from how they competed with the league leaders, but are now just one position and three points above the relegation places.
