With both clubs still competing for a second-place finish in UEFA Champions League (UCL) Group B, Porto and Atlético Madrid prepare to meet at the Estádio do Dragão on Tuesday night.

The hosts currently occupy the second and final qualifying spot for the knockout stages, but Atlético – and AC Milan – are just one point behind Sérgio Conceição’s Porto side.

In squad news, midfielder, Mateus Uribe, is suspended for this encounter due to a build up of yellow cards, so Marko Grujić and Sérgio Oliveira should form the home side’s engine room pairing.

Pepe is still doubtful with his muscular problem but is reportedly making every effort to be fit for Tuesday. Meanwhile, Iván Marcano and João Mário will be sidelined.

Agustín Marchesín will expect to get the gloves back from Diogo Costa, while Fábio Cardoso will start in defence alongside DRC’s Chancel Mbemba, if Pepe isn’t fit in time.

For Atlético, defender, Felipe, is banned following his matchday four red card against Liverpool and Stefan Savić came off with a hamstring problem, 13 minutes into last weekend’s defeat to Mallorca.

José Giménez is also struggling with a muscular issue. Therefore, Central African Republic’s Geoffrey Kondogbia and Mario Hermoso could form an emergency centre-back pairing for Atlético, as Thomas Lemar rejoins the midfield.

Luis Suárez and João Félix were both left on the bench last time out, but boss, Diego Simeone, will surely consider reintroducing both men from the start this week.
