PSG clinically dispatch Monaco in Ligue 1 on Sunday. Mbappé is on the scoresheet twice, as Les Parisiens stroll to victory!

Mauricio Pochettino’s Paris Saint-Germain marched on towards the Ligue 1 title when a Kylian Mbappé double strike earned them an efficient 2-0 home victory against AS Monaco on Sunday.

Mbappé hit the back of the net with a penalty and a precise strike in the first 45 minutes, to put the league leaders on 45 points from 18 games, 13 ahead of second-placed Marseille, who have a game in hand.

Monaco, under boss, Niko Kovač, who had won their previous two games, are eighth on 26 points.

The principality outfit are one of six teams separated by just six points battling for second place, with Stade Rennais in third on 31 points, after their 2-1 defeat at home against fourth-placed, Nice.

“Maybe it was not brilliant but we killed it in the first half,” said Mbappé, who scored his ninth and 10th goals in 10 appearances against his former club.

Monaco started well at the Parc des Princes, with Sofiane Diop coming close when the midfielder’s effort hit the post and rebounded kindly for PSG goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, in the second minute.

However, it took Les Parisiens only 12 minutes to break the deadlock, as Mbappe converted a penalty after Ángel Di María had been fouled by defender, Djibril Sidibé.

Kylian Mbappé doubled his tally at the end of a high-tempo counter-attack, with the France international smashing the ball into the far corner after being teed up by Di María for his ninth Ligue 1 goal of the campaign.

Monaco had a couple of chances to reduce the deficit, but PSG held firm to register their first win in three Ligue 1 matches, after two disappointing draws.
