Madness in Manchester as Sensational City Smash Seven Past Leeds!

De Bruyne nets a brace and his teammates get five more, in a total domination of Leeds United. Guardiola’s men stay top of the Premier League!

Manchester City extended their English Premier League (EPL) lead on Tuesday with a massive 7-0 victory over Leeds United at the Etihad.

The hosts quickly took charge and goals from Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, and Kevin De Bruyne put them three up before the half-time whistle.

Riyad Mahrez found the fourth for City at the start of the second half, when his shot from inside the penalty area took a deflection off Junior Firpo and flew past Leeds keeper, Illan Meslier.

De Bruyne added his second of the game just past the hour mark with a bullet from distance, after the Citizens robbed the ball from Leeds in their own half, to make it 5-0.

John Stones netted the sixth for City, on 74 minutes, thumping in a rebound from his own shot into the roof of the net to hand Leeds their biggest defeat in EPL history.

Leeds’ largest-ever defeat in England’s top flight before this game was a 5-0 loss to Liverpool in the 1995-96 season.

“There is nothing positive to take away from our performance,” said Leeds boss, Marcelo Bielsa. “I can’t find anything that can be valued. When there’s nothing that’s well done, it’s not individualities that fail, but the conduction and organisation. There’s no justification I can offer.”

City weren’t finished though, as Nathan Aké climbed highest to meet a corner kick and nodded past Meslier, to help the hosts to inflict an embarrassing loss for Bielsa’s side.

“It’s good for everybody, a lot of people who maybe didn’t play a lot played today and chipped in. For the whole team it is a booster.”

City are four points clear of second-placed, Liverpool, in the table and five ahead of third-placed, Chelsea, with Pep Guardiola’s team having played one more game than the chasing duo.
